Hyperdontia - Deranged (Released 15/3/23 on Dark Desecent Records/Me Saco Un Ojo) (Death Metal)

By eck! Slap me in the face with a wet soggy sandwich bag. Here is a release you will not want to pass by. Deranged isn’t a filler EP, or something where its just a one-track tease. There are plenty of mosh parts, heavy riffs, technical intertwined rhythms too, but thankfully not like the tech death sleep inducing stuff, but expertly woven in at the appropriate times such as encountered with the solos on Deluded and Degradations of the Flesh.

It’s no secret, I could gob off on farm fields and make the crops grow with my verbal fertilizer spewing forth from my mouth. In this instance, imagine someone with a huge cooking pot throwing in different aspects to help cook the death metal recipe. It’s like a mosh chef went into the kitchen and was throwing out the shite, and only selecting quality ingredients. Nothing that tastes like stale bread or warmed up crap from one of those shitty all you can eat places. Just a quality offering that your pallet will want to taste again and again.

Think classic straight up raw death metal, but also maintaining a down tuned grime where appropriate to keep the filth within the sound. Think Coffins, Autopsy, Cianide, Suffocation all mixed together for a savouring formula.

The only negative, it isn’t a negative really, Deranged will leave you wanting more. The audio quality is good and I like death metal bands who don’t sacrifice the sewer sound distinction, but actually enhance it and find a balancing act. Some music is meant to be clean, other styles need to retain the dirt, and Hyperdontia certainly hold it close to their hearts, which is beneficial for the listener.

Verdict: Deranged is instantly moshable, listenable, enjoyable, ferocious, heavy, and direct brutality, which would be a worthwhile addition to your collection.
