Interview with Thrasherwolf{Thrash Metal} done by Patrick posted on 8-19-20

1.Hello please introduce yourself to the readers?

I’m Billy Lucas, and I’m the drummer of Thrasherwolf.

2.When did you first start listening to thrash metal and metal in general?Who were the first bands that you discovered and who are some of the current bands that have caught your attention?

Does anyone remember Vidzone on the PS3? I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t! It was from that ancient music app that I discovered Metallica’s All Nightmare Long. It blew me away with its pounding drums and deep bass, and there was a game called Brutal Legend that had a huge selection of metal tracks to choose from. It was from there that I became an avid fan of Testament and Carcass.

3.Thrasherwolf was formed in 2016 when did you all get the idea to start this band? How did you choose Thrasherwolf as the name of the band?

Dan Started this band in his college year when he wanted to take up a creative career, the name came from wanting to sound rough and ready and just do what we say on the tin. A tiny bit of superstition is involved too because Dan noticed that most bands with wolf in the title actually tend to do quite well.

4.What is the current line-up of the band?

The current line-up is: Daniel Lucas (vocals and lead guitar), Jack Saunders (rhythm guitar), Alex Mitsis (Bass) and me (drums)

5.Who would you say are the bands biggest influences and for the readers who have never heard the band’s music how would you best describe it?

I would say the biggest influences are Death Angel, Evile, Slayer, and Onslaught, and I’ve heard a few people say we sound a bit like them too!

6.We Are Revolution is the band’s debut full-length which is being self-released did the band plan on self-releasing their debut or would you like to find a label to work with?

Well it would always be nice to have the backing of a label however a self-release will show determination and know how. Our managers Unearthed music have been in talks with a label however so you never know.

7.How long did it take the band to write the music for the debut release?Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member usually write everything?

The majority of the album was written by our vocalist Daniel Lucas. The only parts he didn’t write are the drums. Writing the drum beats involved me listening to the riffs and using my raw gut instincts to find the best beat to use.

8.Who usually handles writing the lyrics for the music and what are some subjects written about on the new release?Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?

The song contexts have a broad range from emotions/concepts like depression and narcissism that cannot easily be put into words to Revolution against corrupt and oppressive government.

9.Besides the We Are Revolution debut does the band have any other merchandise currently available for the readers to purchase? If yes where can the readers purchase it?

We have shirts available on our Bandcamp and if anyone doesn’t want to suffer Bandcamp’s additional fees they can message us directly on our Facebook or Instagram.

10.Has Thrasherwolf had the opportunity to play very many live shows over the years? If yes what have been some of the bands most memorable shows and who are some bands, you have shared the stage with?

We haven’t managed to play a great number of shows but the ones that stood out was the Thrash night we played with Hellfekted and Bangover at the Valentine’s day Thrashacre at the Fighting Cocks in Kingston. The time we won Metal to The Masses pit rounds the very next gig also comes to mind too.

11.When bands are able to play live again are there any shows planned in support of We Are Revolution?

We want to do an album launch gig at some point at a venue in London however because of the virus we haven’t had the resources to plan it.

12.What does Underground Metal mean to you?

Underground metal is everything to our genre, its where the new bands grow and turn into the giants of the future. It needs to be treasured and supported.

13.Besides thrash and metal music do you or any of the members currently listen to any other forms of Underground music? If yes what are some of your favourite genre's and bands?

Dan (our frontman) listens to a lot of death metal and black metal, plenty of it somewhat underground like Anaal Nathraak or Apostasy.

14.Do any of the members currently work with any other bands or solo projects if yes please tell the readers a little about them?

No one in the band currently has a side project or other band however Alex (our bassist) is always looking to expand into other genres and learn other instruments.

15.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Outside of band life I’m heavily into gaming of all types. My particular favourites being Yakuza, Monster Hunter World, Bloodborne, and The Witcher 3. Aside from gaming I like to keep fit and workout as that helps improve my performance on stage.

16.Besides music we are huge movie fans here do you enjoy watching movies? If yes do you have a favourite genre?

I’m not much of a film buff, I don’t really have any favourites, but the movies that have really stood out for me are cowboy movies, as well as prison movies, and maybe a few niche movies.

17.What are some of your all-time favourite movies and what are some of the current movies that you have been watching?

I don’t have any favourites but the movies that do come to mind are Lone Wolf And Cub, Rambo, and Wallace And Gromit Curse Of The Were Rabbit.

18.Who are your all-time favourite Actresses and Actors? Are there any directors that you enjoy watching the most?

I have no real preference for actors and actresses, as long as the film has a good story and compelling characters,I can quite happily watch it.
